Hello! I'm Paul

I’m an HR professional with over 20 years’ experience working at the sharp end of people strategy, culture change, and complex organisational challenges. I've spent my HR career in public, private and voluntary organisations.

Throughout my career, I’ve partnered with leaders across sectors to solve real-world problems, from large-scale restructures to culture repairs and growth transitions. I’m known for identifing what's wrong, speaking plainly, and bringing practical solutions that stick.

I believe leadership is about showing up authentically and making tough decisions with care. It’s this mindset that shaped my approach to HR and inspired me to launch Verdant Purpose, a consultancy grounded in clarity, purpose, and real partnership.

What inspired me to start Verdant Purpose?

Verdant Purpose started because I was tired of watching good organisations struggle with bad HR advice. I've seen charities overcharged for investigations, small organisations buried in outdated handbooks, and founders left searching the internet for advice. It didn’t sit right with me and I knew it could be done better.

After years in senior HR roles, I've built the skills to handle the tough stuff restructures, investigations, complicated cultural challenges but what really lights me up is doing it with purpose. I wanted to build something values-led, where compliance didn’t mean cold, and where legal support came with a human touch.

Verdant Purpose exists to help organisations doing good stay in the green legally, culturally, and financially. It’s about making HR make sense, and giving overstretched leaders the calm, confident support they deserve. No waffle. No drama. Just honest, effective help that clears the way and moves things forward.
